A birthday with a cause! 21 for Haiti

This October, Give Haiti Hope at the University of Tennessee launched their first initiative on campus: the 21 for Haiti campaign. The idea is based around Give Haiti Hope Vice President Katie Erpenbach’s 21st birthday. When thinking about what she wanted for her birthday, Katie realized that anything she asked for would be something she wants, not anything that she needs. This inspired her to donate her birthday to building an orphanage in Haiti.

A dirty martini, just one of many virtual drinks you can purchase on 21forHaiti.org!

The students have created a website at www.21forHaiti.org. Instead of taking Katie out to a bar to celebrate her 21st, friends can visit our site and purchase a “virtual drink” for Katie. Give Haiti Hope has really tried to make this fun for college students, so the virtual bar has everything from pitchers of beer to jello shots – and “purchasing” any of these online will make a donation to the orphanage fund.

You can support this initiative by visiting www.21forHaiti.org and purchasing a virtual drink for Katie! If you’re looking for something a little more family-friendly, click here to purchase other gifts such as cake or balloons!

Another way to help out the cause is to attend one of the percentage nights that are being offered around Knoxville! Area restaurants are helping out Give Haiti Hope by donating a portion of the sales on a specific night to the 21 for Haiti campaign. Some of the partners include 3 Spoons Yogurt, Stir Fry Cafe, Buffalo Wild Wings and Texas Roadhouse. For a complete list, visit the 21 for Haiti calendar here!
